Witness Center and ‘Fonsa’ Association Ally to Enhance Threatened Areas in Palestine
Witness Center for Citizen Rights and Community Development has established a strategic partnership with the Friends of Nablus and its Surroundings Association in Britain to provide sustainable support to areas threatened by settlements and marginalized areas in the Nablus Governorate. This collaboration is driven by their shared vision to enhance social communication between Palestinian cities and their counterparts worldwide.
As part of their joint initiative, the partnership has supplied more than 20,000 domestic agricultural seedlings and around ten thousand olive trees to Palestinian villages threatened by settlements in the Nablus Governorate. The surrounding villages and towns have benefited from these contributions.
Furthermore, for over three years, this ongoing partnership has provided dozens of full university scholarships, particularly in midwifery and nursing. It has also supplied computers for visually impaired students in the Nablus Directorate of Education.
In the same context, the partnership has supported various community training initiatives in the fields of media, volunteer activities, and facilitated support to active institutions in the governorate to implement educational initiatives and relief aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, it funded a conference on twinning between Nablus Governorate and British cities.
Ahmad Jaroushi, the Projects Manager at Witness Center, stated that this partnership aims to strengthen the resilience of citizens in threatened areas of the Nablus Governorate facing severe challenges from settlements. The collaboration also seeks to provide necessary support to alleviate poverty among marginalized groups in Palestinian society.
Jaroushi emphasized that the partnership with Fonsa aligns with the joint strategy of both parties to empower supportive communities to contribute effectively to enhancing the resilience of Palestinian citizens.
It’s worth mentioning that this partnership is built on entirely voluntary foundations, with the aim of providing support to those in need through Witness Center
