“Kashif participates in the UNESCO World Conference on the Internet.”
Kashif, represented by its director, Riham Abu Aita, spoke at the side event of the UNESCO conference, ‘Internet for Trust,’ held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. The event brought together representatives from UNESCO partners around the world.
The session dedicated to Palestine was opened by Hala Tanous, the Communication and Information Program Officer at the UNESCO Office in Ramallah, who spoke about UNESCO’s work in media literacy and fact-checking in Palestine.
Abu Aita addressed the prevalence of misinformation in Palestine, the partnership between Kashif and UNESCO in combating misinformation, as well as the challenges facing information verification efforts. She emphasized the need to promote a culture of information verification and reduce the spread of false information in Palestine.
Also speaking at the session were representatives from the Campaign Center and the Media Development Center at Birzeit University.
Kashif also participated in conference sessions analyzing trends of misinformation worldwide, its impact on freedom of opinion and expression, and the work of journalists. Additionally, discussions focused on regulating digital platforms for the public interest and the technical challenges in implementing a human rights-based approach to regulating these platforms.”
