A workshop in Ramallah discusses the role of official institutions in combating misinformation.
Kashif conducted a workshop titled “The Role of Official Institutions in Combating Misinformation” at the Beauty Inn Hotel in Ramallah today, Wednesday, November 30, 2022. The workshop was inaugurated by the spokesperson of the Palestinian government, Dr. Ibrahim Melhem, in the presence of public relations and media officials from various Palestinian ministries.
Dr. Melhem emphasized the importance of fact-checking and the role of official government institutions in combating misleading content. He added that the responsibility of disseminating accurate information and verification is a shared responsibility that falls on both institutions and verification observatories.
He highlighted the crucial role played by Kashif Observatory in combating misleading content and welcomed future cooperation between Kashif Observatory and government media to achieve transparency in providing accurate information to citizens.
In turn, Kashif Observatory’s director, Raham Abu Aita, presented possible strategies for government entities to reduce misleading information and combat all forms of misinformation. Abu Aita outlined the observatory’s methodology and verification stages that enable the acquisition of accurate information and the fight against misleading information that negatively impacts society in all its spectrums.
The workshop included discussions with all official institutions on mechanisms to reduce misleading information and enhance efforts to combat and limit misleading content on social media platforms and in the media.
