Witness Center Implements Training Sessions for the “Change Makers: Youth Voices for Dialogue and Community Participation” Project in Tulkarm
Witness Center for Citizen and Community Development conducted training sessions under the project “Change Makers: Youth Voices for Dialogue and Community Participation” in Tulkarm Governorate, with funding from the Government of Canada and the participation of a group of young men and women.
Trainer Shireen Al-Tahhan led sessions on psychosocial resilience and well-being, focusing on positive coping strategies, self-care, emotional awareness and regulation, effective communication, active listening, and empathy. The sessions also emphasized building supportive relationships, teamwork, and applying resilience skills to address personal and community challenges.
Dr. Yahya Al-Fahmawi delivered training sessions on civic participation, active citizenship, local governance, and human rights. The sessions explored the role of young people in community development, citizens’ rights and responsibilities, participation in local decision-making, and the promotion of transparency and accountability. They also highlighted the importance of inclusive community participation and engaging women, youth, and marginalized groups in public life.
The project aims to develop the skills of 90 young people from Generation Z across the governorates of Nablus, Qalqilya, and Tulkarm, with a particular focus on marginalized groups. It seeks to strengthen their active participation through dialogue with decision-makers, the implementation of youth-led initiatives, and the production of digital content and media stories, contributing to greater trust and social cohesion.
The training sessions will continue through tomorrow, completing the planned activities and further strengthening participants’ knowledge and skills in civic participation, dialogue, and community engagement.
