Witness Center participated in the United Nations initiative “strengthening young women peacebuilders capacity in complex crisis”

Member of the Board of Directors Wafaa Saadeh participated in the United Nations initiative aiming to enhance the role of women and youth in conflict affected areas.

The program was held in the city of Tbilisi- Georgia between 20-23 March 2023. This initiative aims to strengthen the role of human rights organizations operating in conflict areas, as well as improving skills related to peacebuilding and peace maintenance, project writing and implementation, fundraising, donors’ outreach, reporting, advocacy, as well as deeper understanding of the UN Women Peace and Security Agenda (WPS) as well as Youth Peace and Security (YPS) Agenda.

On the second day of the initiative’s work, Wafaa Saadeh presented a speech in a panel discussion on “Human Rights and Activism”, in which she focused on the reality of human rights and civil society organizations in Palestine and the challenges of working in a conflict area imposed by the Israeli occupation and the shrinking space.

Wafaa’s participation came among 20 women from 40 countries around the world and out of 4,500 applications, in an initiative that was organized by three international institutions: United Nations Women, United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, United Nations Population Fund.
