International Youth Day Celebrated with Intercultural Dialogue andCapacity Building Training

Nablus, August 14, 2024 – In celebration of International Youth Day, the Witness Center for Citizen Rights and Social Development, in collaboration with the Muhammadiyah Association – Indonesia and supported by LazisMu, hosted a dynamic training session focused on capacity building and intercultural dialogue. The event took place on Wednesday, bringing together 50 young participants from various governorates across Palestine.

Kayd Maari, Director of the Witness Center, opened the session by emphasizing the strong partnership with the Muhamdadiyah Association and its impact on fostering dialogue and peacebuilding within the community. He also reflected on the center’s decade of achievements and its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment.

Yayah Khisbiyah, representing the Muhammadiyah Association, detailed the organization’s educational and cultural initiatives, underscoring its global efforts to support Palestinian youth, particularly in intercultural dialogue. She reassured the audience of continued support aimed at enhancing the capabilities of young leaders. In the opening session, Dr. Yasmi Adriansyah and Dr. Zain Maulana from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Muhammadiyah re-emphasize the commitment of the organization to support Palestinian people for their freedom and dignity.

The training addressed key areas such as conflict resolution and intercultural communication, with Trainer Mohammed Opisi exploring conflict dynamics and resolution techniques, and Nimala Kharoufeh discussing the challenges and strategies for effective intercultural dialogue.

The day concluded with a creative exchange of ideas among the participants and the ceremonial distribution of certificates. The event not only highlighted the diversity of the participants, including Muslims, Christians, and Samaritans, but also ensured inclusivity by providing sign language interpretation for attendees with disabilities. This initiative marks a significant step towards nurturing a generation of skilled, culturally competent leaders.
